But social media, right? It’s a really sexy buzzword right now. Everybody’s like, wow, social media, Facebook, millions of followers, but how does it apply to fencing? How’s it going to help you grow your business? So I’m just going to ask you a question to answer that question. What’s your number one source of business right now?
Just make a hole in your head for a second.
I bet you’re going to tell me and you’re thinking right now. And you know, don’t be Don’t be too surprised. your number one source of business is typically word of mouth, and referrals. And if I talk to 100 installers, 99 of them tell me, it’s all word of mouth. That’s what my business comes from. So social media is an opportunity for you to increase that word of mouth business, and get more referrals. Now, how is that more and more people are interacting on social media today than ever before? Um, literally millions and millions of people go on Facebook and spend over an hour every single day, interacting with their family, interacting with their friends, putting updates on what’s going on throughout the day. So if you have a system in place to draw in your existing customers, right, you provide someone excellent service. And now you’ve figured out a way to engage with them on social media. And they’re nice enough to say, wow, you know, XYZ fencing was great. And they go to your page and they fan you they say, well, thank you so much. I appreciate it. You know, not to you and they fan you on Facebook. Well, now all of their friends in their network see that Milania, has fans, Don’s fencing.
And they all see it. It’s almost like she’s saying, hey, all of you guys, I just want you to know, I had a great experience with Don’s fencing. They’re the best fencer in Dallas. And if you ever need a fence service, call Don don’t even go anywhere else called nick’s fencing.
What do you think they’re going to call the next time they have a broken picket, or they need to buy a new electric actuator? They’re going to call Don’s fencing because their good friend Milania recommended Don’s fencing. And so what you need to do from a social media perspective, is you need to put a system in place to follow up with your existing customers after service and say “Hey, thanks so much for your business,” right?
“We have a Facebook page. If you enjoyed the experience, friend this on Facebook, right?” And what that does is that as they friend you, they’re basically endorsing you to all their friends. And by the way, anytime that you post information on Facebook, right, now you have the opportunity to remain top of mind. So you put some random tip about how to you know how to choose a lower energy actuator, or whether they’re in the market for a wrought iron and not that still comes across their Facebook feed. And they say oh, wow, Don’s fencing Yeah, they’re big guys next time I need that type of service. That’s where I’m going to go. So that’s social media. And there’s a huge opportunity for the you know, strategic fencers and understand it, and implement it to really grow their business, and really take their referrals and their word of mouth to a whole nother level.
